I was born in Bellingham, Washington, USA and lived there until I attended the University of Washington in Seattle where I received a BFA in Painting. After college I began to make relief prints, starting first with architectural scenes and then moving from paintings to prints in my Underbrush series, which I am continuing to work on. I have recently moved to Shanghai, where I am looking forward to continuing my art practice.
My work has been shown in the 8th Northwest Biennial at the Tacoma Art Museum, in a two person show at the Maryhill Museum of Art (Goldendale, WA), in New Art of the West 6 at the Eiteljorg Museum (Indianapolis). My prints have been included in several New Print shows at the International Print Center New York and in the Los Angeles Printmaking Society 20th National Exhibition at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, where I won a Patricia G. Norman Award. Last June I had a solo show at Gallery 4Culture in Seattle. My prints are included in the collections of the Tacoma Art Museum, the New York Public Library and the City of Seattle’s Public Works Collection.
Talk and Demo
I will show the process of how I make my linocut prints. Beginning with a photo, I will show how I project it onto the linoleum block and how I draw the image that I will carve out to make the print. The next step will be to make a print of a completed block.
